News Basildon Warehouse Begins | 10 October 2014

Webb Gray are delighted to announce that construction work on a brand new industrial unit in Basildon has officially begun. Found on the Wickham business park, off the Paycocke Road, the development will be a 50,000 sqft unit. Designed as a single storey industrial unit with two storey office block, the unit will provide prospective clients with adequate distribution elements and manufacturing capabilities whilst also provide suitable office and administrative accommodation. The construction of the unit will see the potential creation of a number of jobs and also in keep with the surrounding area which is typified by similar construction and distribution operations.

Wickham Business Park was seen as the ideal location for the new facility as it provides a strategic location with excellent transport links running alongside the A127 from which the building can offer its operations and services. The site had previously been unoccupied and provided the perfect pallet from which Webb Gray were able to design a robust and simplistic building. As many of the surrounding buildings are large industrial units it would not have been appropriate to design a building that does not in keep with the tradition of the business park. As a result the intentionally simplistic design of the building will see clean sharp lines, crisp functional detailing, a small range of surface materials and restricted assortment of colours which will all combine effectively to reduce the perceived mass of these types of industrial units. Rhythm to the elevations will be obtained from simple design details such as shadow recesses and subtle changes in surface texture which will see in keep with the buildings that already surround the site.
