Airport City Manchester is an £800 million expansion of Manchester Airport which commenced construction in 2012. The plan followed an airport city model with the aim of stimulating the Greater Manchester economy by creating on-site logistics, manufacturing, office and leisure facilities.
Unit 2 was a reserved matters application which was developed to work within the parameters of these original applications to achieve a solution that meets the aspirations for the site.
The 459,178sqft unit was first built as a speculative unit, once THG acquired the site we was commissioned to design and co-ordinate the internal warehouse areas. The warehouse is the round is made up of Racking, mezzanine and auto store but also houses a secure access with lockers and toilet facilities.

The unit is housed to a unique Autostore system which uses robots to drive, dig and collect items to deliver to their Bins. The Autostore system is the heart of the warehouse and drove the design and co-ordination. Alongside the 3 Storey mezzanine the warehouse commands a full logistics centre to feed the THG machine.
